FUTURE CALLS - PIHASALI YOGA STUDIO

About two years ago I finished my Bachelor degree in businesses and took off for a 4 months trip around the east part of the world. When I came back to Finland my mom suggested that I would take over her company, a yoga studio in Helsinki called Pihasali - Joogaa räjähtäneille. It wasn't even 12 hours from landing back to my home country but there I was, hearing myself answering "yes" to her question. My mind was going "What on earth are you thinking!? Are you crazy, lady?!" but the answer came from somewhere else, from the heart. So the next thing was to find out how to proceed with this project and one year later, summer 2012 I became the happy owner of our small yoga studio and joined the entrepreneurs colourful group! Here's some pics from our reopening and a video. Please have a look and hopefully you get the same feeling which we all had in the party, very happy and grateful.

More pictures of the party in our Facebook group. Pictures and video by Joni Helminen (except two last ones).

NEW YORK

Before getting to this day, what's going on now, I wanna share some last year's highlights and one of them was definitely visiting one of my best friends in NYC. I went there to do some yoga research, visited studios and yoga classes, bought things for our studio and got inspired - but the best part was to just hang out with my soul sister! Here's some pics from the trip.

New York Brooklyn and the heatwave.

Yankee stadium.

Best spinach gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce. Mmmmm.

Highline park, old railway turned into a aerial greenway.

Can still see the old tracks, now covered by plants. Loved the place!

JR.
Visited this sweet yoga studio Abhyasa in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Try their gentle classes
if you happen to be there, I liked the calm pace and not too crowded classes.

Kirtana evening in Integral Yoga Institute, Manhattan. I also did couple of their classes
and found them very nice, dynamic but gentle at the same time. And their own food store
was awesome with a wide selection of different organic foods.

Rainy day but still SUPER hot weather.

At the end of the trip my feet were covered with plasters! The heat combined with humid
weather wasn't the best for my turist feet.

Studying yoga in the rooftop of my friend's flat while she was at the university. Not bad,
couch and all!

Thanks for taking such good care of me, I will be back! xxx

DOTS AND TATS

At my old work place IVANAhelsinki, helping around for couple days when others left for
summer vacation! Here wearing IVANAhelsinki romper, nannanda necklace and
a secondhand vest. Mixed jewelries.

On another day feeling more lady-like so pulled on a red IVANAhelsinki dress and the same
old nannanda earrings, my all time favorites.

FAKE CAKE IN THE BLOGSPHERE

We got visited and written about by many blog writers, some even from Denmark yipee! If you wanna read or look more pics, click

ME!
or MEEEE!
or maybe ME
and then after that ME!

Here's our Danish visitors video made of The Restaurant Day - our cafe isn't unfortunatelly shown in the video but Cathrine's words are making us believe that the day was successfull:

"Mix a yoga studio, a girl that makes incredible tasty raw-food desserts and an upcoming local artist. Blend in sponsored furniture, dresses and plants. Stir and add friendly hosts, relaxed guests, a good atmosphere and pretty signs. Turn up the heat, take off your shoes and enjoy the dim lightning – Then you have the perfect pop up restaurant. Visiting this place made you wish it was open every day."

RESTAURANT DAY - FAKE CAKE BOOOOOM!

Our raw food cafe organized in the yoga studio Pihasali owned by my mom and soon by me was a huge success - more than 400 hundred people participated! Crazy and so so happy! There were at least four different cakes and three different kind of small treats and they all went! Maybe ten small bites were left for us to eat the next day but all in all, at least over 400 hundred people got to taste our delicious raw food delicatesses! All the recipes were by our raw chef Jutta Ruonansuu and you can find the recipes (in Finnish) from here - if I get asked to translate the recipes to English, I will do that! Or then use google translate but it might give you funny answers... not funny when you're hungry!

A big BIG thank you to

FitnessFirst who immediatelly believed in our idea and supported the happening with their super foods! You can find the ingredients used in the cakes from their site, check it out! Some collaboration has been talked about so maybe you can later buy a package of all the ingredients needed for you favorite Fake Cake...!

Plantagen who helped us to make the space green and wild with their plants
Ivana Helsinki for our gorgeous clothing from the next SS 2012 collection Indian Summer and the interiors
Kaksitvå for the wild beanbags
FTN Futon Shop for their comfy couple's corner sofa seat

And of course most of all to our team member who made the day possible with us, love you all!

Here's pics from the event by Timo Utterström:

Art took over Pihasali when Virve Laakso shoved her colourful paintings in Fake Cake.

Me, Jutta and Virve here so happy about the amount of people supporting us!
