Vappu Eve

Today the Finns party hard. It's the Vappu Eve. Helsinki is going to be packed with people when they go to see the "capping" of the Manta statue. It's an old tradition and a unofficial start to the party, which usually lasts at least two days. The day after tomorrow, first of May, people continue Vappu celebration in parks, enjoying picnic with their friends and welcome the Spring to Finland. You should visit Helsinki on this particular day because you won't see as many Finns on the streets in any other day of the year! But it can also be an shocking experience..

Hi My Name Is...

If you want to make sure that people will remember you and your name after changing business cards, make sure your card stands out from the traditional ones. I love this idea!

Strawberry Street

Me and Mr. R wanted to borrow some travel books about Bali from the library but the one we went to didn't have any. They had books from all around the world except from Indonesia, strange. Luckily we found one that seemed to be good and informative from a bookstore. Coming out from the shop I smelled something sweet in the air and saw a strawberry tent in front of another shop. It can only mean that summer has officially started! Of course we had to buy this year's first strawberries - yummy!

Together Forever

The tattoos have healed already really well, no problems at all. Yesterday the skin in the rib was feeling a bit tight and sensitive but no wonder after three hours of tattooing! The ear tattoo is like it's been there forever, no pain at all. Now I just have to tie my hair up for a while so it won't irritate the tattoo and loose clothes to not scratch the rib tattoo.

I wanted the tattoo to be henna tattoo style and a bird to it, so we decided to go with a peacock which is quite traditional in henna tattoo designs. The result came out better than I thought - thanks again Linda!

And then the ear tattoo. I LUV it too!

Inked

Today I got tattood - yei! I had been waiting for this day for so long! Now just have to wait for the tattoos to heal and then later I'll show better pics of them. But here's some preview!

Big hug to Linda Luau - she's the best! She's cool and really talented tattoo artist and I can recommend her to anyone who's thinking about taking a tattoo. Her shop, Luau Tattoo, is decorated in Hawaii-style and the atmosphere there is really relaxed and fun.

O-Ou We're in Trouble!

Yesterday evening it was partying in Hundpark, a goodbye party for KAKSITVÅ designers who will sell their clothes in Helsinki10 in the future. The place was packed with people but it didn't stop us having a dancefloor in the middle of the shop!

Piia has some moves!

Pretty girls, Nini and Sarah.

Guys played church bells. Ding dong!

Later me and Sarah went to eat pizza in Big Mama's. I asked jalapeno in my pizza, to which the guy was "It is rrrreally hot.." and me "Good, I want it hot".

But damn, the pizza really was RRReally hot! But I won't complain because after eating, my flu was gone (would want to say for good, but at least for that night) - hurray! Teşekkür pizza guy, it was delicious!

Golden Buttons

Yesterday was perfect day, so warm and sunny, and of course I was working! But luckily got to enjoy the weather after work.

KAKSITVÅ Moves to Helsinki10

Tomorrow is the last day for the Finnish fashion label KAKSITVÅ in Hundpark. After many years of co-operation with the shop, the designer duo Marjo Kuusinen and Piia Keto decided it's time to move on and will be selling their gear in the future in Helsinki10.

So if you're near by the shop tomorrow, go check it out!

I modelled for the girls S/S 2008 collection with my friend Sarah. It was fun!

Frozen and Burning

I could kill for an ice cream now - or actually for sorbet, I'm not that big fan of ice cream. My throat is burning hot! Mr R. is out with friends and it's boring here at home. I wish my head wouldn't feel like a heavy bowling ball, argh!

Tanya in Wonderland

Still in flu. Still not liking it! But found these cute pictures to cheer up the day! I find these pictures of Tanya Dzialiheva extremely pretty and dreamlike. Love the combination of Carlotta Manaigo's photographs and Gustav von Arbin's delicate illustrations.

The only thing I don't like in the pictures is the Coca-Cola can in the last one. Lately their advertising has been annoying me more than before. I'll post later some critic of one of their latest ads.

Let There Be Rock

Despite the flu I went to see my dear friend for a coffee. Or actually I drank "Flu Killer", made of rooibos, ginger and lemon bites and honey. Mmmm.

Please Bite Me and Don't Let Go

I adore this cuff from Katherine Azarmi. Maybe in the next jewellery course I could try something like this but in a smaller scale, like a ring.

Oh No, Flu..

I feel crappy. Yesterday I was feeling a bit strange and then it hit - first flu this year! I've been lucky and haven't catched flu for a long time until now. The worst part is that I can't smell or taste things properly! Oh no! For example chocolate doesn't taste anything at the moment, how horrible is that! Buu.

Going to Bali!

Black sand beaches and bungalows - here we come! We just booked tickets to Bali for August. I'm so excited and happy! Since our honeymoon last August, it has been quite a rough year and I feel we definatelly need this break. I'm going to do yoga every morning (or not maybe every single but..) on the beach and hope to do some hiking too.

Have you been in Bali - any tips to give?

Movie Tip: A Day Without a Mexican

Just saw this movie and liked it a lot! The idea is great: one day all the Latinos disappear in California and the city is left with many questions.

Better Choice: Maison Belle Dish Soap

I haven't had a dishwasher for many years now. I was getting really frustrated with the dish soap selection until I tried Maison Belle's dish soap. It's eco-friendly and bio-degradable, bottled in PET recycled bottles and the bonus: the bottle is really cute and the soap smells nice! Most of the time the eco-friendly products aren't that appealing to the eye but Maison Belle's products do not only look nice but are also good quality.

Another good side of the product is that it lasts a long time. We wash dishes nearly every day and still the small bottle can last for MONTHS. So next time when you're buying cleaning products, don't miss these cuties.

Hello Belgium!

This article about Helsinki and its design destinations was published in some Belgium magazine a while ago. The picture was taken last summer when I still had long hair. I'm not sure if I like this shorter hair more or not. What do you think - should I keep it shorter or let it grow again?

Valse Noble

I've been trying to keep my piano playing skills up but not with a great success... Sometimes feels like even the dogs can play better than me! Well, it's anyway better to try then not to play at all.

Baile Funk Carioca

Boomshakala! Yesterday a brasilian DJ, Sany Pitbull, performed here in Helsinki. I had seen him once before but wanted to go dance a little and take it easy after a long day at work. I enjoyed the evening and had a great time with my dear friend. EXCEPT some really rude people in the club were making me uncomfortable. Why is it that girls treat each other in a really bad way? I almost got into a cat fight. Can you imagine, me! They would have totally kicked my ass, haha. Why can't we just be and let others be too?

Mr. Sany Pitbull. Muito massa!

Reddish! It was kinda hot in the club.

From the way home, night in Helsinki.

Summer dreams

Summer isn't yet here but my new summer dress is! Waiting to be worn as soon as it's warm enough. It was a sample piece from my work and wasn't first completely sure if it's my colour but when I tried it on didn't want to take it off anymore! It looks a bit weird in the pic but I promise to post another picture later...
