Finland is going to vote for the next president this Sunday and it's been interesting to follow the wave of support that Pekka Haavisto has gotten from "ordinary people" to celebrities. I'm so happy and excited to see that these kind of guerilla marketing, action in the streets, is happening in Finland too! Very good and beautiful idea!

This weekend will be full of excitement! First our FAKE CAKE raw food cafe for the Restaurant Day and then the elections on Sunday. Today Jutta started with some small treats and tomorrow we will put our hands on cakes! All the preparations, like soaking the dried fruits and nuts, have been done today so we can start, put full non-heat on and start making the cakes! Raw girl power!

WINTER WITHOUT PROPER SHOES

My storage got robbed one day before Christmas - GREAT! Naturally I was super happy to notice that half of my property was gone and especially the winter wear like my mom's old felt boots which I loved. From all of the stuff I was most sad about them. Especially now it makes my days a bit difficult when I'd need them for walking my dog out in the freeking freeeeeeezing weather brrrrr!

I couldn't get sleep last night so I slept untill 10 am, made a late breakfast of porridge, went out for a walk to vote for the next Mr. President and then turned into working mode and took care of some preparings for the Restaurant Day. Now we have the main ingredients for the cakes, the super foods - yei! Soon it's gonna be some serious raw food cooking - without heat of course! Tomorrow is a new day of action. To be continued!

FAKE CAKE - PREPARING FOR SATURDAY

Yesterday me and Jutta went to get all the necessary stuff you need to feed people - except the food haha! But we got the plates, mugs, forks etc. so the next step is actually to make the delicatesses! We'll be propably starting today or tomorrow with the small treats so then we'll have couple days to make the cakes before the REAL DEAL, Saturday's Restaurant Day! RESTAURANT DAY: FAKE CAKE - RAW FOOD CAFE

When I first time heard about the Restaurant Day, I got so excited! For one day ANYONE can open a restaurant or a cafe anywhere, basically. Is it legal and approved? Legal - no! - but approved by people - yes! I wanted to do something too, to participate in this exciting food carneval, to be part of the mass movement against the normally bureaucratic restaurant legislations and rules - food lovers anarchy party, I thought! So when I found out that our yoga studio was free on the same weekend the next Restaurant Day was gonna take place, I called my friend and asked if she had any suggestions of a restaurant we should open. I had the premises and enthusiasm to organize something but I wasn't gonna turn into some kind of Master Chef in one night!

Virve introduced me to Jutta from Kaunis Päivä Tänään and Lempeä Elämä who's specialized in healthy foods like raw food. We immediatelly clicked and this is the result: FAKE CAKE - RAW FOOD CAFE! I'm so excited! Me, Virve and Jutta will make different kind of raw cakes and small delicatesses in different flavours - show how you can make healthy, rich and tasty treats from pure, fresh ingredients without white flour, sugar or any of the other stuff we're normally used to think as delicious basic ingredients for desserts - these yammies will seduce your tongue in a way you've never experienced before so please, do come and test them out! I'M CLEANING

I picked few points from the article "30 ways to detox your home and body" and added some of my own comments. Maybe you can also pick some and start from them, see how later on you've taken many other points into action by yourself!

1. Eat organic
2. Add more raw vegetables and juices to your diet
4. Sauna helps to sweat away the toxins - I'd also add cold water swimming here, it's great and does wonders to your metabolism!
5. Stretch daily - yoga, tai chi, whatever you enjoy!
6. Change the chemical cleaning products to natural ones - if I don't wanna eat chemicals, why would I wanna breath or absorb the chemicals through my skin
8. Start reading food labels - if the product has a list of 20 added, unnatural things, do you really want to have them inside you?
9. Same goes for cosmetic and personal care products - read the labels and avoid any synthetic chemicals! You don't wanna have those in your system either.
10. Add wheatgrass to your diet.
11. As well as chlorella or/and spirulina.
12. Excercise 45 minutes at least daily - it has a positive affect on your physical and menthal health!
13. Eat detoxifying foods daily - my favorites are blueberries, ginger and spinach
14. Exchange massages with a partner - a friend or your loved one, this is a great way to communicate with another one and find a different kind of connection, show your affection and love, wether it be romantic or not.
15. Give up smoking - I know, it's hard but you'll feel so much different when you do!
16. Be moderate with drinking - a glass of red wine every now and then is okay, isn't it?
18. Drink clean water - maybe get a water filter or try to get your hands on spring water cleaned by Mother Nature!
21. Stop microwaving your food - it's been so many years since I've used microwave that can't even think about using it now, even the idea of it makes me feel YICK!
26. Stop eating artificial colours.
27. If you'd know what they put in fragrances, you wouldn't wanna use them so I would suggest you to go organic with your self and stop using parfymes - more of this subject later...
28. Don't storage food in plastic containers - use glass bottles etc. to avoid BPA
30. Reduce meat in your diet - many think that I'm vegetarian but actually I do eat meat every now and then, maybe max couple times a month, but when I do, I buy organic. But mainly, I eat vegetarian food, just because it makes me feel better and it's d e l i c i o u s!

YOGA EMPOWERS IN HELSINKI

I was asked to participate in the first Yoga Empowers Project in Finland by Satu Tuomela and when I heard that it will be a charity event, I was excited to give one free class of hatha yoga this coming Sunday. I'm a bit nervous because it's my first bigger event with many people taking part and the whole happening will be also filmed to HimaJooga so there's some challenge for a person who's usually teached not more than 10 people in one sitting! But I know it's gonna be fun and it's always good to face your fears and do something new! I'll share some pics of the event later! Here's something about the Project by LuvMat:

NEW NANNANDA EARRINGS

Tomorrow Saturday is again the national Restaurant Day all over Finland when anyone can open a restaurant and serve food for people. "Restaurant day is a one-day carnival in favor of a free-spirited restaurant and food culture" announces the site. It's a fun day when you can explore the city and eat at guerilla restaurants all different kind of foods. Many my friends are organizing their own restaurants which is great! One will be held at the Gallery Ateljeejee, Kuuma Peruna Pop Up which sells hot potatoes with different kind of fillings, easy to eat and tasty for sure! The women behind the restaurant are Pilvi and her mother Päivi who will donate a part of every sold meal to youth's mental wellbeing. Big up hot ladies!

I'll be also at the gallery from 12-15 and will bring some new nannanda earrings with me so come and support a good cause and check out the new pieces! Here's some preview...

I'm tryna learn somethin new
I'm tryna surround myself with people that inspire me
Or at least inquire similar desires

What am I getting out of this? A good feeling, inspirations, positiveness or what? Or do I just feel tired, exhausted and unmotivated afterwards? And no, I'm not talking about drinking but about relationships. Relationships can sometimes be tricky but rewarding if both sides have trust, respect and love towards each other - with these three things so many things can be worked out when conflicts come up. Also ones own responsibility is a important thing, being responsible for your own actions.

I've always loved to be with people and meet new and still DO but the main difference to my social life is that with whom and how I spend my main time nowadays. If before I was using my spare time off from work mainly running in different events and parties, socializing with people I didn't in the end really get to know better and also many times feeling a bit outsider, like I needed to prove myself somehow, now I'm

a) learning to take time for myself and
b) choosing to spend my time with people that inspire me somehow.

With this I mean that I don't feel shittier after talking, being with them. At least I used to have some people in my social circle who would too many times just take all my energy and I'd feel heavier, emptier and grey later. In the worst case scenario your "friends" not only taking your energies but your believe in yourself and make you doubt the things you can do and be. You know those who "take you back to the ground" - it's good to have those friends too especially for a person like me who's flying sometimes in totally different levels with my big ideas and dreams BUT it's different to crash somebody's inspirations and motivations, to pull them underground and even laugh straight to their face in front of other people. I'm sure you know the type.

And people who fill their time talking about other people. What's with the other and their doings and problems? Why are we so interested about everything outside from us when we should actually turn and look inside of ourselves. Sometimes it's good to look at other people and learn through/from them but to blah-zay-blah all the time about others, especially if it's your "friends" - I'd shut up and try to learn about myself first.

And it's not always about cutting everyone completely off from your life but to find your own "space", vibe, and stay in it when encountering these dementors occasionally. But when you have control of your time and energy, I've needed to ask myself many times where and to whom do I decide to give it. I share it with people who inspire me, give me the love and energy I need after a long day, support me even with my craziest ideas all though sometimes question them but in a loving way and in the end, if I fail, never give me the cold slap of "I told you so" but a warm, big hug. And I can always count on that. Sometimes it's people who you've known for years, sometimes only for a while but you can feel this seed of compassion in their heart that shines rather than sucks the living out of you.

Love and compassion. Find it in yourself and share it around but never let others take advantage of it or kill it. Not yourself, not your friends, your partner, your family. If the drink's not good, why are you taking the poison? Whoop de whoop, I want you to be your own Star!

That's how I feel sometimes after a whole day of being with people, talking either face to face or by phone and just generally living in the city. I'm a social person and love to meet new people, see my friends and family and be in contact with people - I'm a people person. For me the best way to learn about myself is through others. But! I need my own space, silence, to charge up my batteries every now and then. Sometimes only for one hour after a day at work or sometimes for a weekend at our summer cottage. If I don't take (was about to say "get" but actually it is my own choice so decided to go for "take" instead) my own time, just to be, I get easily irritated, absent minded and generally out of balance.

I was adviced by many people that I've been talking to since coming back from the trip to start doing regular meditation or yoga practice after waking up. It's been hard to change into another rhytme and rutine but I've been trying to do at least 10 min's meditation every morning and so far it has worked out well! I feel I'm much more "in myself", much more concentrated and focused than just waking up and rushing to the day. So, maybe you could try this short meditation too for a week and see how it works for you:

Find a clean, quiet spot at your appartment or out in the nature, where ever you feel like doing the meditation. Sit in a comfortable, steady position and close your eyes. Listen to your breathing, feel it in your body. Observe it, don't judge it or your thoughts and feelings. If you start to get lost in your thoughts, guide your consciousness back to your breathing.

Feel the inhale go up in your spine from the tail bone all the way to your neck and the top of your head. Exhale leads it down through your spine back to your sitting bones, to the tail bone. Feel the breathing flow up and down. When you've found your own rhytme of breathing, guide your breathing to your toes. Feel them. Go your whole body through like this from the tip of your toes to the top of your head, feeling each part and energizing them with your breath.

And remember to smile! You'll feel happier through the day when you give yourself a nice start for the day so remember to breath, smile and eat well, good nutritious food that looks and tastes good.

HOME REMEDIES FOR FLU

Last Friday I was suddenly struck by flu which hit me hard and fast. Earlier the week I'd been sneezing a bit, nothing serious, but then on Thursday, after giving two yoga classes in a place that had air con, oh man, that was it - flu saw its chance and was about to take a visit at My Temple. In couple of hours I felt so stuck that I couldn't breath properly and my head weighted hundred kilos, at least! I was panicing because nowadays I rarely get sick and had almost forgotten how it feels like. Now couple days later, I'm happy to tell that I can again breath normally and it's almost like I never was sick! I wanna share my best home remedies and natural cures I use whenever I'm feeling a bit sick so here they are:

1 HONEY

Honey has for maybe centuries been known for its curing properties - maybe you first heard it from your grandma' but it has actually been scientifically proven to be antibacterial and work for many sicknesses. I use honey quite a lot, even when I'm not sick. I use it in smoothies, porridge, to give flavor to foods, many many ways. But I copied this recipe from one cafeteria, it could be called The Flu Fighter:

Boil fresh, cold water. When the water has boiled, let it cool down for couple of minutes (you don't wanna burn all the good stuff with boiling water!)! Make hot drink from rooibos, honey, bites of ginger and lemon (preferably all organic!). Put wool socks on, drink it slowly and feel the Mother Nature taking care of you. It's delicious and works, at least for me!

2 GINGER

I love ginger root, how it smells, tastes and even how it looks! Not that beautiful maybe but when you peel off the skin, what a beautiful colour and smell comes out! I use ginger again in smoothies, porridge, tea, to give flavor to foods, in dips - so many ways you can use it! But I've discovered that it is actually the best remedy for soar throat and coughing. Cut a small piece, peel it and put it in your mouth. Let the juices do its work and when it's loosing its taste, you can chew on the bite a bit, but carefully! It can be quite strong and "burn" your mouth. You don't want that for sure. I don't use any pastills from the pharmacy anymore but have ginger in my fridge all the time.

3 CARMOLIS HERB DROPS

Carmolis is made of medicinal herbs, over ten different oils. You can treat cold or digestion problems with it. You can take drops as they are or then mix it with your tea or with a spoonfull of honey, the latter one has been many of my friends favorite whom I've lovingly forced to try the herb-honey-mix. Last person's comment: I love it, uuu can I have more!. The drops work also externally for headaches or muscle pain. Multi task tool!

4 TIGER BALM AND TEA TREE OIL

These two I also have with me all the time. Tiger balm I use to the chest and on the same location in my back so that it's placed where my lungs are. So when I'm breathing, I can feel the herbal vapors cleaning my body. I also put the balm in the soles of my feet. My mom used to put slices of fresh garlic in my socks when I got sick and what I've understood is that our feet are connected to every part of our body so I dare not to do that anymore. Don't they say that Mothers know best?

Tea tree has also always been used in my family so I've learned since kid to rubb the oil in the lymph nodes in the throat if I started to feel soar throat. It also helps to open a stuck nose. For some people these both might cause allergic reactions so if you haven't tried them before, try carefully with small amounts to one place at first and see how you react. I've been always able to use them with no problems at all but still, never using if there isn't real reason so I won't get sensitive over time.

5 REST AND SLEEP

Sickness is a sign that you're body isn't doing well so you should do your part of the healing and just rest for a while! Take the time to read a good book, maybe watch some documentaries or movies, eat well and healty, drink enough of water and just be! Don't start cleaning your home, do some work things you hadn't had time for earlier, stress and push yourself deeper - be kind to yourself and let the healing do its work. You can also do some visualization meditation where you imagine your body being purified with every exhale and breath in new, fresh air.

Of course there are tons of other good ways to get rid of flu and maybe I'll share some more later, but for me these are the five most effective, easiest and most-used techniques. Let me hear what are yours - each one, teach one!

This is how seriously we take yoga - no, don't laugh! Here with Wonder Woman Meri in my class in Pihasali. She teaches at yoga studio Asana in Helsinki. Her love for yoga and arts can be seen in her teaching and at the studio - nothing too serious but everything is done with passion, flow and joy. I'm so happy to have met so many soulicious, beautiful women through yoga who inspire me to continue this and become a better teacher. It's been now 10 years since I heard good Finnish rap for the first time. First was Ceebrolistics and then Avain, nowadays called as Asa, and I was hooked! Playing piano, mainly classical music since I was 4 years old rap was something interesting and different to listen to at my free time and after finding Finnish rap I was listening only it for a long time. Then something happened, I got tired and couldn't listen to any kind of rap for a while. But now in few years I've found the inspiration again and been super excited about so many good Finnish artists which I wanna share with you! Here's some of my favorites to check out, new and old:

There's some new dope Finnish rap artists hitting the scene and one of them is definatelly Noah Kin. I saw him first time in 6linja, Helsinki and couldn't believe my eyes! He has such a stage charisma, the kind of I haven't seen for a while - you will be amazed by his self-confidense which won't be confused with arrogance. Noah seems like he's in his living room at the stage, confident and present having a conversation with you. You won't be just watching him rapping but feel like you're part of the whole experience. The songs tell a story of this 17 year old in a funny realistic way with a dash of self-irony, words knitting from one to another into a perfect flow. I'll share later a clip from the gig in 6linja, it was a good night!

Noah will be performing in Helsinki 1st of October at the launch party of Diamond Supply Co. at Cali so if you have a chance, go check him out! I'll definatelly will!

'Though "Do You Remember" is the first chapter released from a short film based to music from Ane's forthcoming album "It all starts with One", it is the third chapter in the film that houses no fewer than four orchestrated songs to be premiered in autumn 2011.

The Director for the whole project Magnus Renfors, says of the venture:

"Ane's music is like a great ocean housed under the roof of a great old theater, where pictures are hung from the threads of the music shooting out, so it really does the job itself. That said, the images require a certain height and a substantively dramatic level, otherwise the music, sometimes so sublime and skin tingling, can rush over the head of the visual aspects. The title of the song above was very fitting for the beginning of my week which started with a good old friend of mine, Migraine. For three days I was in constant pain, in milder headache to a strong, head pounding, brain killing inner explosion which wouldn't take a hike even with the proper triangle marked pills - three days torture! And on the last day of the migraine attack I was beeing photo shooted for an article about migraines - how theme convenient! I'll share the storie with you guys later when the issue is out...

Now I'm feeling better again but the Brain Hell stopped me again to ask myself: what can I learn from this Pain? What is it trying to tell me? To quote Kahlil Gibran, "Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding". I'm so thankful about my migraines these days because I know it's my body trying to message me something, it's the alarm system going on when I'm not listening to myself enough. Luckily I have this sensitivity to keep me grounded, connected to myself because otherwise I'd have pushed myself already too far and to an early grave - menthaly and/or physically.

Studies have shown that pets have a positive effect on people's emotions - being a dog owner I'm not surprised at all. During my divorce and some kind of depression period followed by it, my dog Onni (Happiness/Bliss) was one of my heroes, a fur coated White Knight. On those days when I didn't feel at all like getting up from the bed or leaving home, Onni was there to pull me up and get me on my feet. That time I felt like he was taking me out for a walk, not vice versa. And when I felt so so alone, like there was no one else on this Earth, I could always tickle and play with Onni and his genuine joy would trasfer to me. For a while I forgot all my sorrows and actually smiled and laughed. It was like a miracle! Nowadays I go jogging with him as much as possible because we both enjoy it - I will be always greatful to Onni for keeping my mind together. Free treats for the rest of his life hoooorayy!
